Arrest warrants of ex-PM AJK suspended

ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday suspended the arrest warrants of former prime minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in a case of misuse of a diplomatic passport.

Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah, while hearing the case, suspended Ilyas warrant after he surrendered before the court along with his counsel Ilyas Siddiqi.

The court also issued notices to both the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the defence on the acquittal application filed by the AJK former premier.

During the hearing, the court also approved the former premier’s application seeking permanent exemption from appearance before the court. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 7.
