PESHAWAR: The Frontier Customs Agents Association Khyber Pakhtunkwha (FCCA-KP) hailed the customs authorities for clearance of all containers stuck at Azakhel Dryport.

President of the association Ziaul Haq Sarhadi in a statement issued here on Sunday expressed special gratitude to the Chief Collector Customs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Jamil Nasir, President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Junaid Altaf, rest of his cabinet members and other relevant senior officials for their concerted efforts, more than 100 containers of FATA/PATA containers, stranded at Azakhel Dryport.

He urged the government and customs authorities to take further measures to provide facilities for the business community at Azakhel Dryport.

Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, who is also Pak-Aghan Joint Chambers of Commerce and Industry senior vice president, chairman SCCI standing committee on dryport and railways and member of the executive committee mentioned trade and commercial activities have adversely affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to closure of the trade routes and other allied reasons.

KP businessmen have faced enormous hardships due to being away from seaport Karachi, besides policies and anti-business initiatives were further added to their miseries, Sarhadi said.

He continued to say that the Torkham border is a lifeline for the business community and a major source of livelihoods for many families.

FCCA chief said major three trade routes had shut for the last three to four month, inflicting billions of loss to the trading community and adversely hit Pak-Afghan bilateral trade and transit trade with Central Asian Countries.

Ziaul Haq Sarhadi urged the government and relevant institutions to compete with the traders associated with Pak-Afghan trade and transit trade.

He emphasized the business-friendly policies highly imperative to boost commercial and trade activities to generate employment opportunities.
