LAHORE: The Lahore district administration launched a comprehensive campaign against profiteers and hoarders across the city on Friday.
According to the administration, assistant commissioners conducted strict surveillance of Lahore’s markets and bazaars, inspecting a total of 3,424 locations. Strict action was taken on the spot against lawbreakers. During these inspections, heavy fines totalling Rs852,000 were imposed for overcharging, 11 shops were sealed, and 12 cases were registered to ensure justice for those involved.
The administration reported that, due to the strict monitoring, price stability is being observed for essential commodities. Specifically, the price of chicken meat has decreased by Rs15 per kg, carrots by Rs4, and the prices of ladyfinger and ginger have dropped by Rs5 per kg.
