LAHORE: The Punjab government has constituted a special team to ensure strict monitoring of ongoing development works and to review safety protocols under the Punjab Development Programme.
In this regard, Safety and Monitoring Officers have been deployed in nine districts to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards in ongoing projects.
This was disclosed during a meeting chaired by Punjab Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal held here on Monday to assess the progress of ongoing development schemes. During the meeting, Managing Directors of WASAs from all districts briefed participants on the progress achieved so far. The Secretary directed that qualified engineers remain present in the field to effectively monitor safety, environmental, and other technical matters.
Mengal made it clear that negligence in safety protocols will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He stated that development works are progressing rapidly in 10 districts of Punjab, while the Punjab Housing Department is overseeing projects in 15 districts.
The meeting reviewed ongoing projects in Jhang, DG Khan, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Okara, and Sargodha. Directions were also issued to accelerate the pace of work and ensure timely mobilisation in Nankana Sahib, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan.
