ISLAMABAD: Armed robbers looted a private bank on Monday evening and made off with over Rs 5 million in cash.
Police sources said that some unidentified armed robbers broke into private bank in the heavily guarded Blue Area within the jurisdiction of Kohsar Police Station.
Sources said that four armed persons entered the bank at 6:52pm and exited at 6:54pm, carrying out the robbery within just two minutes.
According to police, three of the suspects approached the bank’s main entrance and knocked on the door. After the security guard opened it, the armed men forced their way inside and carried out the robbery at gunpoint.
Police were alerted through the bank’s control helpline call, prompting an immediate response. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) operations, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) operations, and Station House Officers (SHO) Kohsar reached the scene shortly after the incident. Police have collected evidence and obtained CCTV footage from the bank, while a search operation and area cordon have been launched to apprehend the suspects.
