Karachi double decker bus service extended from Malir to Tower

The Sindh government has extended the double-decker bus service from Malir to Tower, with the new route becoming operational from Monday, February 16, 2026.
This was announced by the Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on X.
The expansion comes as part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to strengthen public transport in Karachi.

Earlier, Sindh government officials had told Business Recorder that five diesel-run double-decker buses and 34 electric vehicle (EV) buses would be introduced in January 2026.
After a gap of nearly six to seven decades, double-decker buses returned to the roads of Karachi, the country’s largest metropolitan city and economic hub.
A total of 39 buses — including five double-deckers and 34 EV buses — were imported from China for Rs3 billion. The vehicles underwent clearance at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) before being made operational in phases.
