ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended his congratulations to Tarique Rahman, chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), following his party’s landslide victory in the recent general elections.
In a message on X, the prime minister said that he spoke to Rahman over the phone and conveyed his congratulations on BNP’s overwhelming success in the polls.
Sharif expressed hope for future cooperation between the two nations, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its “brotherly ties” with Bangladesh.
He also underscored the need for building upon the legacy of Begum Khaleda Zia, with a focus on advancing shared objectives of peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.
