ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa (retd) has been hospitalised after sustaining injuries from a fall at his residence early Tuesday morning, family sources confirmed on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that Gen Bajwa slipped and fell in the washroom of his residence in Rawalpindi around 4:30am.
The fall resulted in injuries to multiple parts of his body, including a head injury. Following the incident, he was rushed to a hospital in Rawalpindi for urgent medical care.
Sources close to the family revealed that Gen Bajwa (retd) is currently under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors are closely monitoring his condition.
As of now, hospital officials have not issued an official statement on his health status.
General Bajwa, who served as Chief of Army Staff from 2016 until November 2022, was appointed to the position by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
His tenure was extended for an additional three years under the government of former prime minister Imran Khan.
