ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued a comprehensive list of 24,958 inactive companies as on January 2026.

The SECP’s list revealed that the inactive companies belong to different cities including Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Sukkur, Gilgit and Islamabad.

The category-wise list included private companies, single member companies, section 42 companies and foreign companies which were declared inactive by the SECP.

An expert told Business Recorder that the SECP has struck off inactive companies from its records, updating registration data of companies not involved in any business activities. The inactive companies have been strikes off from its books to streamline the working of registered companies. A significant number of inactive companies have been deleted from SECP’s register.
