LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has congratulated the citizens of Lahore for ensuring full compliance with safety SOPs during Basant celebrations.

In her message, the chief minister praised the people of Lahore for upholding the government’s trust. “I am happy that Lahoris lived up to our confidence. Lahore is very happy today, and so am I,” she said.

She stated that, Alhamdulillah, the citizens played a key role in celebrating a safe Basant by strictly following rules and regulations. The concept of a joyful yet safe Basant was fully embraced across the city.

She said there are no reports of the use of banned kite strings beyond the approved size and material, and Basant was celebrated safely on rooftops in accordance with SOPs. Due to the non-use of metallic string, transformers across Lahore also remained safe.

The chief minister noted that preventive safety measures on rooftops proved effective by the grace of Allah. She added that the concept of “Safe Basant” would be extended to other cities after Lahore.

She further informed that 200 Clinics on Wheels and 21 field hospitals were deployed across all areas, including Liberty and the Walled City.

Concluding her message, Chief Minister Maryam said that today is the final day of the Basant festival and urged the public to continue exercising caution.
