Haider appointed SECP Commissioner

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Imtiaz Haider as Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for a period of three years with immediate effect.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Division (Investment Wing) and published in the Gazette of Pakistan (Extraordinary) on Friday, the appointment has been made under Sections 5 and 7 of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997. The notification states that Haider’s remuneration and allowances will be determined in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Act. The appointment is part of a series of recent changes in the top management of the capital market regulator. Earlier, Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu was appointed as Chairman of the SECP, while Muhammad Ali Farid Khwaja as commissioner.

The SECP now consists of five commissioners including the chairman.
