Grocery, wholesale bodies pledge to offer 10-20pc discounts during Ramazan
LAHORE: The grocery, wholesale, ghee and poultry associations have assured the Punjab government of their full cooperation during the holy month of Ramazan, including the provision of 10 to 20 percent discounts on essential commodities at Ramazan Bazaars, Sasta Bazaars and Sahulat on Wheels across the province.
The assurance was given at an important meeting chaired by Secretary Food Safety and Consumer Protection Dr Kiran Khurshid to review Ramazan preparedness. Representatives of the grocery, wholesale, poultry and ghee associations attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kiran Khurshid said that, on the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department would ensure strict monitoring of prices and quality of essential items throughout Ramazan.
She said that special attention would be paid to Ramazan Bazaars, Sasta Bazaars and Sahulat on Wheels to safeguard consumer interests.
The secretary said that all four associations had reaffirmed their commitment to fully cooperate with the provincial government and to provide 10 to 20 percent discounts during the holy month to ensure maximum relief for the public.
Dr Kiran Khurshid further announced that Ramazan Bazaars across Punjab would be fully functional from February 15 and would continue operations until the 29th of Ramazan.
