Uzbek President awarded Nishan-e-Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday conferred the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian honour, upon President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional cooperation between the two nations.

The prestigious award was presented at a special ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad, reflecting the deep-rooted friendship and growing strategic partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, members of the federal cabinet, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, senior government officials, members of parliament and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Following the award presentation, President Asif Ali Zardari hosted a state banquet in honour of the visiting Uzbek President, underscoring Pakistan’s warm hospitality and its commitment to further strengthening ties with Uzbekistan.
