KARACHI: Gold and silver prices fell sharply on Friday, as world bullion markets underwent a correction, traders said.

The big international drop pushed local gold prices down by Rs21,400 to Rs507,762 per tola and Rs18,347 to Rs435,324 per 10 grams, according to All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.

World market lost $214, bringing gold bullion prices down to $4,850 per ounce while silver saw a huge decline in value by $14.3, reaching $74 per ounce, it cited.

Domestic market also registered a big recession in silver prices by Rs1430 and Rs1226, settling at Rs7825 per tola and Rs6708 per 10 grams, respectively, the association added.
