Maersk says to cut 1,000 jobs as 2025 sales down 2.8%

COPENHAGEN: Danish shipping giant Maersk said Thursday that it would cut 1,000 corporate positions as it reported lower revenue for 2025 and warned of continued overcapacity in the shipping industry this year.

Maersk’s revenue fell to $54.0 billion last year from $55.5 billion in 2024 despite increased volumes, while net profit was more than halved to $2.7 billion, down from $6.1 billion in 2024.
