Gold, silver prices fall sharply

KARACHI: Local gold and silver prices further plummeted, sliding under Rs500,000 per tola on Monday, tracking a global market’s sharp downtrend, traders said.

The international slump further pushed the local gold prices down by Rs21,500 to Rs490,362 per tola and Rs18,433 to Rs420,406 per 10 grams, according to All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.

World market saw another big fall by USD219, bringing gold bullion prices to USD4,676 per ounce while silver rates dropped by USD6, reaching USD79.30 per ounce, it cited.

Domestic silver prices also declined noticeably by Rs601 and Rs516, settling at Rs8,405 per tola and Rs7,205 per 10 grams, respectively, the association added.
