PTI foreign funding case: FIA directed to submit complete challan in two days
ISLAMABAD: A banking court on Monday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) two days to submit a complete challan in the foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and other accused.
Banking court judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar while hearing the case expressed displeasure over the prolonged delay in filing the challan and directed the FIA to submit it within two days.
FIA prosecutor Wasiq Malik appeared before the court. Questioning the delay, the judge asked the prosecutor what the agency had been doing so far, noting that the case had been pending since 2022 and accusing the FIA of showing a lack of interest.
The prosecutor informed the court that the FIA had written to relevant foreign countries to obtain their responses regarding the case. He requested one week to ten days to complete and submit the challan.
Judge Kakar said he was considering issuing a show-cause notice to the Investigation Officer (IO) and summoning the Director General (DG) FIA at the next hearing.
The prosecutor requested the court to grant additional time and refrain from issuing a show-cause notice or summoning the DG FIA.
