KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, on Thursday, inaugurated a state-of-the-art SAP system in Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation to ensure efficiency, transparency and accountability.

SAP stands for Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, held KWSC’s Head Office, the Mayor emphasized that modern technology is critical for improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability within public institutions.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Executive Officer of KWSC, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer, Engineer Asadullah Khan, Chief Finance Officer, Ammar Ali Khan, Deputy Managing Director, Human Resources, Sikandar Ali, and other Senior officers.The Mayor highlighted that the SAP system would digitize records, streamline billing, recovery, and expense monitoring, and improve overall financial and operational management.

“With this system, decision-making will be faster and more accurate, and citizens will receive better, high-quality services,” he said.

He stressed that no institutional improvement is possible without modern technology, and the KWSC was now being aligned with advanced IT infrastructure.

The Mayor reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing transparency, performance, and accountability, assuring that the reform process would continue to ensure clean water and improved public services.

KWSC officials said the SAP was a major step toward modernizing the corporation’s operations, with positive outcomes expected to emerge soon.
