Court maintains non-bailable arrest warrants for KP CM Afridi
ISLAMABAD: A local court on Wednesday maintained the non-bailable arrest warrants for Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi in a case registered against him by National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over alleged misleading remarks about the state institutions.
Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah while hearing the case, issued warrants against CM Afridi after he repeatedly failed to attend the court proceedings. The court ordered the police to take Afridi into custody and present him before the court.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till February 10.
Sohail Afridi had made misleading remarks against the state institutions and damaged their credibility. The NCCIA registered the case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.
An First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Afridi on behalf of the state under Sections 11, 20 and 26-A of PECA.
