ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Dr Munawwar Iqbal Kamboh as Managing Director of the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) for a period of three months on a look-after charge basis, pending the appointment of a permanent managing director, as the selection process is currently under way.
He has replaced Shah Jahan Mirza, who had been serving as head of the organisation for an extended period. Prior to this appointment, Kamboh was serving as Director General (Hydropower) at the PPIB, where he was responsible for overseeing and monitoring private-sector hydropower projects under construction.
According to the official notification, “with the approval of the competent authority, Kamboh Iqbal, Director General (Hydropower), is assigned the look-after charge of the post of Managing Director, PPIB, with effect from January 27, 2026, upon the conclusion of the contract of Shah Jahan Mirza, for a period of three months or until the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier.”
