KARACHI: Gold and silver prices continued an upward momentum, reaching new historic levels on Monday, as global bullion market hovered near USD6,000 per ounce, traders said.
Local gold prices hit fresh historic highs of Rs532,062 per tola and Rs456,157 per 10 grams, surging by Rs10,900 and Rs9,345, respectively, according to All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.
World market added USD109 to its total, pushing gold bullion value to new record highs of USD5,097 per ounce. Similarly, silver prices continued to reach all-time high of USD110 per ounce, growing by USD6.27.
Following suit, domestic silver market accumulated further Rs627 and Rs537, taking the white metal prices to new highs of Rs11,428 per tola and Rs9,797 per 10 grams, respectively, the association added.
It is worth noting that the open market may trade gold and silver at prices differing those officially established by the association.
