LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) Lahore will install fire hydrants at 108 key locations to improve fire safety in various sensitive areas of the city.

This was disclosed during a meeting chaired by Wasa Lahore Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed to review fire safety arrangements in Lahore. During the meeting, instructions were given to ensure that the installation process is completed within the designated timeframe.

Additionally, the meeting outlined plans to direct all commercial plazas across the city to implement adequate fire safety measures, including the installation of fire hydrants in their buildings.

The Wasa Lahore MD instructed the directors of all towns to promptly verify the functioning of WASA Lahore’s existing lorry hydrants and ordered an increase in the number of these hydrants.

He said that in line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for public safety and a secure Punjab, Wasa Lahore is actively working to enhance fire safety measures throughout the city.

He emphasised that any negligence in fire safety will not be tolerated, as the protection of public life and property is the top priority for both the Punjab government and WASA Lahore.
