ISLAMABAD: US Chargé d’Affaires to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, on Tuesday emphasized that for more than two decades, the US has not only been Pakistan’s largest export market but also a powerhouse investor, driving substantial trade opportunities and fuelling mutual prosperity between the two nations.
She emphasized that the growth in trade between the US and Pakistan, which was projected to reach over USD8 billion by 2025, reflects a strong foundation and the positive impact of US economic engagement both in Pakistan and globally.
A statement issued by the US Embassy noted that during her visit to Sialkot, Baker commended the city’s vibrant business community and emphasized the potential for even greater US-Pakistan trade and investment to enhance mutual prosperity.
Pakistan, US explore avenues for trade growth
Speaking at a lunch hosted by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce, she underscored the depth of the bilateral commercial relationship. She stated that the US and Pakistan are working towards a fair and balanced trade relationship that fosters prosperity for both nations.
Baker also toured Forward Sports, First American Corporation Limited (FAC), and CA Sports – globally recognized leaders in Sialkot’s sporting goods industry – visited the Sialkot International Airport, and met with AirSial’s leadership. She stated that these engagements highlighted the significance of US-Pakistan collaboration in global supply chains, job creation, and trade-driven economic development.
She pointed out that nearly 70 percent of FAC’s exports go to the US, underscoring the strength of American markets and consumer demand. “We are committed to bringing the best of American technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to help create jobs and uplift communities in both our countries,” she added. The statement noted that the visit coincided with the US’ celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, emphasizing that it is not just a reflection on the past, but a launch pad for the future, driving leadership in innovation, commerce, and global engagement.
It further noted that as the United States celebrates the “American Decade of Sports” with several major global sporting events on the horizon, the country continues to strengthen partnerships that connect people, markets, and cultures through both sports and business.
“The US remains deeply invested in Pakistan and its people,” Baker added, “building on a partnership that dates back to Pakistan’s independence and continues to grow through trade, innovation, education, and cultural exchange.”
