Sindh govt fully engaged in Gul Plaza rescue operations: Sharjeel
KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that following the fire at Gul Plaza, rescue and relief operations continued uninterrupted, and the entire provincial administration remained actively engaged at all times.
In a statement, he said that the Chief Minister of Sindh has granted full powers to the Commissioner Karachi to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident. Only after the completion of the investigation will it be determined what caused the fire and who is responsible.
Sharjeel said that effective arrangements are indispensable to deal with any emergency situation in all public properties and high-rise buildings. He added that fire brigade vehicles remained continuously present at the site and that the rescue operation proceeded without interruption.
Sharjeel Memon said that the martyrdom of a rescue official, Furqan, during the rescue operations is proof that institutions are performing their duties with full commitment and dedication.
He said that those involved in politicizing the tragedy and making baseless allegations should act with wisdom during such critical moments. Blame and accusations are not solutions to problems; rather, there is a need for all concerned to step forward and cooperate in relief efforts.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the fire has been completely brought under control, while the cooling process is still ongoing. However, it is premature at this stage to make any definitive statement about the internal condition of the building.
