KARACHI: Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways, Amir Ali Baloch, on Monday, visited the Asia’s largest Marshalling Yard at Pipri, Bin Qasim, Karachi and inspected the operational activities.
He also visited Loco Shed Pipri, where he was given a detailed presentation regarding the overall performance of the shed, available facilities and ongoing projects.
He was informed about an important development that ZBFC (Air Brake Bogie Flat Containers), which were earlier being sent to Mughalpura for Periodic Overhauling, now will be overhauled at MYP Marshalling Yard Pipri.
Under this project, the complete overhaul of a bogie will be completed in just 7 days, while work on it has already started, which is being considered a major achievement for Pakistan Railways.
He was accompanied by Chief Mechanical Engineer Muhammad Nasir Khalili, Chief Engineer Open Line Irfan-ul- Haque, Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Karachi Mahmood-ur-Rehman Lakho. All relevant Divisional Engineers and the officers were also present.
This visit is an important step towards self-reliance, cost reduction and modernisation of Pakistan Railways in line with the vision of the Federal Minister for Railways, which will not only increase operational capacity but enable significant savings in time and resources.
The visit of Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways to Karachi will continue for the next three to four days, during which a detailed review of various facilities and projects will be done.
