ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication on Monday held detailed deliberations on “The Pakistan Telecommunication Re-organization (Amendment) Bill, 2026”, with a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) member raising concerns that the party’s Parliamentary Legislative Committee had not been taken on board during preparation of the draft.

The meeting was chaired by Syed Amin ul Haq, MNA.

During the discussion, it was suggested that the draft bill should first be discussed with Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA, and if any amendments are proposed, the bill should be brought back before the committee for further consideration.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister concerned, committee members and officials from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and its attached departments.

Among the MNAs present were Ahmad Atteeq Anwar, Ammar Ahmad Khan Leghari, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Gulnaz Shahzadi, Syed Ali Qasim Gillani, Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Sadiq Ali Memon, Sharmila Sahiba Faruqi Hashaam, Ahmad Saleem Siddiqui and Pullain Baloch.
