Pakistan, US explore avenues for trade growth

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb on Friday met US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, with discussions focusing on Pakistan’s economic outlook, reform agenda and avenues to enhance bilateral trade and investment.

During the meeting, Natalie Baker praised Pakistan for achieving relative economic stability and improvement. She lauded the government’s reform process and macroeconomic agenda.

Baker reaffirmed Washington’s full support for strengthening trade and investment ties with Pakistan.

The meeting also welcomed a cooperation agreement between Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance and US-based Liberty Financial in the field of cryptocurrency.

Natalie Baker said collaboration in digital finance and innovative financial technologies could contribute to greater financial inclusion and modernization of Pakistan’s financial sector.

Aurangzeb thanked the United States for its continued engagement and support, reiterating the government’s commitment to sustaining economic reforms, ensuring macroeconomic stability and creating an investor-friendly environment.
