ISLAMABAD: Sialkot International Airport Ltd (SIAL) on Thursday officially transitioned into the country’s second international airport to implement a fully cashless payment system, in collaboration with Meezan Bank.

In a statement, the airport announced that the move aligns with directives from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and is part of a broader effort to promote a secure, transparent, and digitally advanced economy.

Under the new system, it added, all financial transactions across the airport, including those at counters, lounges, car parks, concessions, and retail outlets, will be conducted exclusively through digital channels. “This shift aims to streamline operations and enhance convenience for passengers, business partners, and stakeholders alike.”

SIAL Chairman Hassan Ali Bhatti highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying the airport’s shift to a cashless system is not just a tech upgrade, but an investment in transparency, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
