PESHAWAR: As many as 269 degrees were conferred during the 9th Convocation of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar (SBBWUP).

In the convocation, 269 BS four-year program students received degrees from the session 2019 to 2023, while forty MS/M Phil and PhD students got the degrees.

A total of 41 gold medals were also distributed, out of which 16 gold medals were received by students of affiliated colleges of the university.

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chancellor SBBWUP, Sohail Afridi awarded degrees to the graduating students of the university.

University Vice Chancellor, Controller of Examinations Registrar and Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the students, University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Safia Ahmed (T.I) said that the university faculty is always trying hard to equip the children with higher education and groom them to strengthen their character along with education so that they may contribute to the wellbeing of the society. Many market oriented departments have been initiated and facilities are being provided in each department, while work is going on for more departments.

On this occasion, she mentioned to the Chief Minister Sohail Afridi about the lack of funds, especially for the infrastructure and other facilities for the students of the University. An exclusive request was made by the Vice Chancellor for construction of a separate access road for the university.

The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa/ Chancellor Benazir Women University Sohail Afridi congratulated the students on earning their degrees.

In his address, The CM said that the daughters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are not less than anyone and we will take our daughters forward with the power of the pen and education. At the same time, he also approved the funding of the access road for the university on the request of the university vice-chancellor and said that the work on it should be started from tomorrow.
