KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has announced to launch a ‘Karachi Bachao Mohem’ (Protect Karachi Movement) to guard the citizens’ rights and economy of the megacity, which is a mini-Pakistan and engine of country’s economy.

Senior leader of MQM-P MNA Dr Farooq Sattar made this announcement at a press conference held on Saturday at the party’s main office in Bahadurabad. MQM-P’s MNA Ameen-ul-Haq and its senior leader Haider Abbas Rizvi also spoke.

They talked on the reasons behind the decision of launching the movement aimed at getting the due share for Karachi, as the development and prosperity of the country owes to Karachi.

“A prosperous Karachi means a prosperous Pakistan,” contended Dr Farooq Sattar.

He linked their movement to ‘Maarika-e-Maashiat’, the economic battle the government is struggling to win in 2026, after wining ‘Maarika-e-Haq’ in 2025.

He said that Karachi is only city which has housed multi-coloured and diversified population from nook and corner of the country. Therefore, it is the duty of all other provinces, as well to speak of and support Karachi’s development.
