ISLAMABAD: In a spirited message issued on the final day of 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday declared that the year would be remembered as one written in “golden letters” in the country’s defence history.

Celebrating 2025 as a year of “unmatched” military success, he praised the armed forces and citizens for thwarting enemy plans and solidifying the country’s borders against external threats. Referring to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) as the nation’s “Falcons,” he commended their unwavering defence of the country’s airspace, calling it an “exemplary success” and a valuable lesson to military forces worldwide.

He praised the bravery of the armed forces, noting that their efforts had helped establish Pakistan as a formidable power in global defence.

“With our courageous and skilled armed forces, InshaAllah, the entire nation will always remain a solid wall in defence of the country,” he said, highlighting the strength of Pakistan’s unity between its people and military.

Looking ahead to 2026, the PM offered a message of hope and optimism, wishing all Pakistanis happiness, prosperity, and the blessings of Allah. “May the sun of 2026 rise with joy, prosperity, and His blessings,” he said, calling for a new era of national harmony and social welfare.

Sharif also paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in terrorist attacks throughout the past year, vowing that their bravery would never be forgotten.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the country’s economic prosperity, pointing to recent improvements in economic indicators as evidence that Pakistan is on the right track.

“The revolutionary economic reforms we began last year will continue this year with renewed determination,” he assured, promising further steps to enhance the country’s financial stability and social well-being.

“We will ensure the economic well-being of the people,” he added, hoping to alleviate the concerns of those struggling amid a volatile economic landscape. Turning to foreign policy, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to global peace, emphasizing the nation’s efforts to promote values such as respect for humanity, peace, and mutual tolerance. “Pakistan renews its commitment to continue sincere efforts for regional and global peace,” he added.

Sharif also expressed solidarity with the oppressed peoples of Kashmir and Palestine, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for their rights and freedoms.

As he concluded his message, the prime minister made a final prayer for the country’s protection, praying to Allah Almighty to safeguard the nation from terrorism, sectarianism, and social division.

“May the year 2026 bring social and political harmony, prosperity, and stability to Pakistan,” he concluded.
