Permanent judge of AJK SC: PM advises AJK President to appoint Justice Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday advised President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, to appoint Justice Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry as a permanent judge of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to a notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the advice was issued in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions governing judicial appointments in AJK.

Justice Chaudhry is currently serving in an acting capacity, and his confirmation is aimed at strengthening the functioning of the apex court in the region, the statement said.
