ISLAMABAD: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has warned Liberty Daharki Power Limited (LDPL) to clear outstanding dues amounting to Rs20 billion, failing which its gas supply may be suspended.
In a final payment notice addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of LDPL, the General Manager (Recovery) referred to the company’s earlier correspondence dated November 18, 2025, regarding the settlement of outstanding amounts in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions.
According to SNGPL, it was observed that M/s Liberty Power is not releasing funds in line with the agreed payment plan. As of December 9, 2025, total outstanding dues accumulated to Rs20.029 billion, which far exceed the held cash security deposit of Rs3.085 billion.
Despite SNGPL warning: LDPL says unable to pay dues on time
SNGPL stated that the outstanding amount includes: (i) gas arrears of Rs17.812 billion approved by management on June 23, 2025; and (ii) less upfront payment of Rs2.000 billion made prior to reconnection, leaving a balance of Rs15.812 billion at the time of restoration of gas supply.
The gas utility further detailed the shortfall under the agreed payment plan as follows: (i) five overdue instalments amounting to Rs5.000 billion; (ii) gas bills for the period June to October 2025 totaling Rs10.047 billion; (iii) less amount received after reconnection amounting to Rs7.750 billion; (iv) net shortfall in overdue amounts of Rs7.297 billion; (v) gas bill dated November 25, 2025 amounting to Rs1.920 billion; and (vi) the sixth instalment due on December 10, 2025, as per the agreed payment plan.
Under clause (d) of Article V of the gas supply contract, LDPL is required to clear all invoiced amounts within 30 days of receipt. In the event of default, SNGPL, in addition to its other rights and remedies, is entitled to suspend gas supply after giving seven days’ written notice.
In view of the current situation, SNGPL once again urged LDPL to clear all outstanding dues. In case of non-payment, the utility warned that it would be constrained to exercise its contractual rights, which may result in the suspension of gas supply to the power plant without any further notice.
