Silver continues to hit fresh highs

KARACHI: Silver prices persisted to hit new record highs on Thursday while gold showed a sizeable increase, tracking an international uptrend, traders said.

The local silver market edged higher to reach new record benchmark of Rs6,900 per tola and Rs5,915 per tola grams, up by Rs78 and Rs67, respectively, All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association said.

World silver prices spurred to new all-time highs of USD66.28 per ounce, up by USD1 while gold soared by USD22 to settle for USD4,334 per ounce, it added.

Domestic gold prices surged by Rs2,200 and Rs1,800, available at Rs455,762 per tola and Rs390,742 per 10 grams, respectively, according to the association.

It is worth noting that the open market may trade gold and silver at different prices as compared to those officially fixed by the association.
