Final nationwide polio vaccination drive to begin from December 15
- Aims to vaccinate more than 45 million children under the age of five across the country
Pakistan will launch its final nationwide polio vaccination campaign from December 15 to 21, aiming to vaccinate more than 45 million children under the age of five across the country, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
The seven-day campaign is the fifth and final nationwide anti-polio drive of 2025 and will be conducted across all provinces and regions.
Official data shows that 30 polio cases have been reported in 2025, compared to 74 cases reported in 2024. The most recent polio case was reported in October this year.
As per the National EOC, over 23 million children will be vaccinated in Punjab, more than 10.6 million in Sindh, around 7.2 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and over 2.6 million in Balochistan.
In Islamabad, approximately 460,000 children will receive polio drops, while more than 228,000 children will be covered in Gilgit-Baltistan and over 760,000 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
More than 400,000 male and female polio workers will be deployed nationwide to conduct door-to-door vaccination and operate designated vaccination points.
Polio eradication drive launched nationwide
The National EOC stressed that protecting children from polio remains a shared national responsibility and urged parents to fully cooperate with polio workers to help ensure a polio-free future for the country.
Parents have been advised to ensure that all children under the age of five receive the polio vaccine during the campaign.
