UK Minister meets Speaker Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: UK Minister of State for International Development Baroness Chapman called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan at the Assembly Chamber.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott, Head of Lahore Office Ben Warrington, Development Director Sam Waldock, Senior Political Advisor Owais Shah, Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, and Secretary General Chaudhry Amer Habib were also present.

The meeting discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, and the expansion of development partnerships. Both sides agreed to further strengthen parliamentary engagement between Pakistan and the United Kingdom and advance joint initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that Pakistan-UK relations are becoming stronger owing to enhanced parliamentary cooperation and shared development priorities.

He also said that that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is taking transformative measures to improve public welfare and combat air pollution.

The Speaker underscored that technical and policy-level partnerships between Pakistan and the UK are essential for sustainable regional development. Appreciating the role of the British Pakistani community, he noted that the community continues to contribute significantly to strengthening Pak-UK relations through trade and investment.

Highlighting the performance of the Punjab Assembly, the Speaker said the Assembly is actively contributing to the consolidation of a strong democratic system in the province. He also expressed gratitude to the UK government for its continued cooperation.
