Pak physicians living in US: PM directs EAD to resolve issues hindering investment

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) to address and resolve all issues hindering investment in Pakistan’s healthcare sector by Pakistani physicians living in the United States.

The directive came during a meeting with a delegation of Pakistani-origin doctors, who expressed a strong interest in contributing to the development of the country’s medical infrastructure.

During a meeting with the delegation, Prime Minister Sharif instructed the EAD to work closely with the delegation to create a practical roadmap for facilitating investments in the health sector.

He emphasised that the plan should be developed in consultation with the physicians themselves to ensure that their expertise and resources are fully utilized for the betterment of the country’s healthcare system.

The delegation, headed by Dr Samir Shafi, included leading medical professionals such as Dr Jawad Shah, Dr Tajammul Hussain, and Dr Nauman Haider, as well as prominent social activist Rana Zahid Amir.

The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, and Dr Saeed Akhtar, an influential figure in the healthcare sector.

During the discussion, the doctors lauded PM Sharif’s leadership in advancing Pakistan’s healthcare sector and expressed their eagerness to play an active role in its further development.
