ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a controversial tweet case against human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari and her spouse, Advocate Hadi Ali Chattha, until December 15, after being informed that a related petition is still pending before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, while hearing the case registered against the couple under Sections 9, 10, 11, and 26-A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), over the alleged anti-state remarks made on social media, adjourned the hearing without any proceedings.
Both the accused appeared in the court. During the hearing, the defence counsel informed the court that a related petition was still pending before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Following the submission, the court adjourned the hearing of the case until December 15.
During the previous hearing, the prosecution and defence argued over the defence application regarding the section 342 statements and the list of witnesses.
