LAHORE: The District Transition Teams, constituted by the Punjab government to manage the administrative and financial transition to newly formed local government institutions, have formally begun their work, and the deputy commissioners of all relevant districts have been appointed as heads of these teams.
According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department, under the Green Punjab Mission of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, significant progress has been made toward expanding the jurisdiction of the Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) across the province. In this regard, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, during which DG PHA Naheed Gul Baloch briefed the participants on the progress made so far.
In the briefing, it was told that under the District Transition Teams were functional, and the transfer of staff, machinery and other assets is underway at an accelerated pace. Efforts are in progress to fully operationalise the newly established horticulture agencies at the earliest.
The newly established horticulture agencies include Rahim Yar Khan, Okara, Khushab, Khanewal, Nankana Sahib, Jhelum, Muzaffargarh, Sheikhupura, and Jhang.
