LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab province arrested 24 terrorists belonging to different banned organizations during operations in different areas of Punjab, foiling a major terror plot.

According to details, CTD Punjab conducted 364 intelligence-based operations in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 366 suspects were questioned and 24 terrorists were arrested along with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.

The arrested terrorists include Shakeel Ahmed, Mohebullah, Hayat, Ajab Khan, Shoaib, Irfan, Amjad, Ali Raza, Noman, Rashid Khan, Shakir, etc. These arrested terrorists belong to Fitna-ul-Khawarij and other terrorist organizations. The arrested terrorists belong to Lahore, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Muzaffargarh, Sialkot, Rajanpur, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Attock.

Explosives 4915 grams, Detonators 24, Safety Fuse Wire 58 feet, EID Bomb 4, Pamphlets of the banned organization, magazines, Prima card, mobile phone and cash have been recovered from the possession of the terrorists.

A senior officer told that the terrorists had planned to target important buildings in different cities. He added that 24 cases have been registered against the arrested terrorists and further investigation is being carried out against them. He said that 5604 combing operations were also conducted with the cooperation of local police and security agencies, 229138 people were checked, 501 suspects were arrested, 473 FIRs were registered and 357 recoveries were made.

The Counter Terrorism Department Punjab is diligently pursuing its goal of a safe Punjab and no effort will be spared in efforts to bring terrorists and anti-state elements behind bars.
