LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif Wednesday accorded approval for the launch of “Chief Minister Punjab Honorarium Card” for Imam Masjid Sahib across the province.

The CM directed that honorarium payments to Imams would commence from January 1, 2026 with the first payments being issued via pay orders.

The approval was granted during a high-level meeting presided over by the CM in which several key decisions were taken and a detailed briefing was also presented.

The meeting decided that issuance process of honorarium cards must be completed by February 2026. The authorities concerned briefed CM Punjab that from February 1 onward, all payments will be made exclusively through the Honorarium Card.

Officials briefed the meeting participants that 62,994 registration forms had so far been received from Imams across Punjab and its verification process is under way. They further apprised CM Punjab that any Imam found involved in activities against national interests or implicated in moral or financial crimes would have their honorarium immediately suspended.

The CM directed that registration of Imams should continue uninterrupted. She further directed Assistant Commissioners across the province to hold monthly meetings with the Imams.

The CM directed continuation of combing operations in sensitive areas. She directed to introduce strict legislation against damage to Safe City cameras and government property. She further directed authorities to take necessary measures for digital monitoring of individuals listed under the Fourth Schedule and to continue operations against illegally residing Afghan nationals.
