SKMT, Namal University: ATC orders unfreezing of four bank accounts

RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday ordered the unfreezing of four bank accounts of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) and one account of Namal University that had earlier been frozen by the concerned authorities on the court’s directions in connection with the case against PTI founder’s sister Aleema Khan related to the November 26 protest.

Counsels for the incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan and the SKMT appeared before ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. During the hearing, SKMT lawyers requested the court to unfreeze the hospital accounts.

Prosecutor Zaheer Shah told the court that the prosecution did not move any written application for freezing the SKMT’s accounts. Prosecution had sent the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number of accused Aleema Khan to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to gather personal accounts blocked, but the SBP has blocked all accounts linked to her CNIC.

He said that the prosecution has no objection to the unfreezing of the bank accounts of SKMT and Namal University.
