RAWALPINDI: Ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s scheduled protest in front of Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Adiala Jail—where PTI founding chairman Imran Khan is imprisoned—the district administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Monday imposed Section 144, effectively banning all kinds of protests and rallies.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rawalpindi, Section 144 has been enforced across the district due to the prevailing security situation. A similar order was also issued by the DC of Islamabad.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI has earlier announced that its members of the National Assembly, provincial assemblies, and the Senate will hold a peaceful protest outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) every Tuesday, citing delays in hearings of cases against Imran Khan and his wife.
