Finally, the federal government has put to rest an unwarranted controversy revolving round a “notification” regarding the Chief of Defence Forces’ (CDF’s) appointment by announcing that the notification will be issued in due course of time, the process of which had already begun.
It is country’s defense minister Khawaja Asif who has broken the silence on this matter through his post on social media platform X, saying “Please be informed that the process has been initiated. PM is returning shortly.
Notification will be issued in due course of time.” The situation clearly shows government’s complacency because the issuance of a notification by the prime minister to this effect was expected to coincide with the abolition of CJCSC’s post. Little does the government know when such failures or mishaps come to light, they often spark intense public debate, and blame.
Needless to say, a successful action can silence government’s critics. It is, therefore, about time the prime minister signed the notification with regard to CDF’s appointment without any further loss of time.
