LAHORE: The traffic police have decided to take strict action against police officers using tinted glasses and non-standard number plates on their vehicles.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Athar Waheed has ordered that now the same rules will be applicable to police official vehicles as are applicable to ordinary citizens.

According to the CTO, if police officials and officers violate traffic rules, they will also have to face challans and cases. Black windows on official vehicles and motorcycles should be removed immediately, otherwise cases will be registered against the responsible officials and officers.

Similarly, orders have been given to immediately remove non-standard number plates on official vehicles. In case of violation, legal action will be taken against the concerned officials.

The CTO said that hundreds of police vehicles are roaming in the city with black windows and non-standard number plates, which are setting a bad example for citizens.

Just as the public has to obey the laws, government officials and police officials must also follow the traffic rules. CTO Lahore has directed all traffic wardens not to give any exception to any vehicle and the law should be kept the same for all.
