Tax reform essential for sustained economic growth: Dr Zeelaf Munir

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Business Council (PBC) concluded the 4th Dialogue on the Economy 2025. The closing day brought focused discussions on Pakistan’s investment climate, energy reform, mining potential, privatisation, institutional transformation, and the transformation of tax administration.

In her closing remarks, Dr Zeelaf Munir, Chairperson, PBC stated, “Pakistan’s economic future depends on resilience, reform and responsible partnership. No institution can deliver progress alone; all the stakeholders need to believe in business. Our strength lies in collective responsibility and coordinated action. Documentation of the economy is necessary, and tax reform is essential for sustained growth.”

She further stated, “At PBC, we bring evidence, solutions and partnership working with the government to create growth-focused policies.”

Along with the notable keynotes of Jameel Ahmad Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue, Sardar Awais Leghari (Federal Minister for Energy), Ali Pervez Malik (Federal Minister for Petroleum) and Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ahmed (National Coordinator, SIFC), and Federal Minister for Planning & Development, Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ahmed, National Coordinator – SIFC and other notable industry experts, shared insights on advancing reforms, improving coordination and building confidence for investors and industry during the two-day conference.

With Pakistan entering a new economic cycle, PBC reiterated its commitment to constructive partnership with the government and the private sector. For the last twenty years, the Pakistan Business Council has remained committed to supporting both local and international businesses. PBC is well positioned to serve as a first port of call for foreign investors. The Dialogue on the Economy 2025 conference is also a part of this commitment to the businesses.
