Pope Leo XIV lands in Turkiye on first overseas trip of papacy: AFP

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE: Pope Leo XIV arrived in Turkiye Thursday on the first overseas trip of his papacy, which will also take him to Lebanon, said an AFP journalist on board his plane.

The American pope landed in Ankara at 12:23 pm (0923 GMT), where he was to meet Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and give an address to officials, civil society and the diplomatic corps at the start of a four-day visit, before flying to Istanbul in the early evening.
