KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the most empowered local government institutions in the country have been established by the PPP.

If MQM raises too much noise, the Lahore local government system could be implemented in Karachi. Punjab is being cited as an example, where local government elections have yet to be held.

In a statement, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Karachi is the heart of Sindh and one of the government’s top priorities. Billions of rupees are being invested in urban infrastructure and basic services. The Sindh government is working diligently on developing urban facilities and infrastructure in Karachi, and any attempts to obstruct these efforts will fail.

He said that the MQM’s political behaviour has harmed harmony and social development in a multicultural city like Karachi. If the MQM had focused on improving urban amenities, basic infrastructure, education, health, and water and drainage systems, it would not be trying to cover up its shortcomings by criticising our work today.

He said that our work speaks for itself. Projects worth billions of rupees are underway in Karachi, yet the MQM is actively obstructing them. The MQM could have initiated projects such as the EV Bus Service, People’s Bus Service, Pink Bus Service, Shahrah-e-Bhutto, Taj Haider Bridge, Pink Scooties, and BRTs, but they had no such intention.

“Sindh government does not just make promises; it demonstrates results through actions.” The government is modernising Karachi day by day, and and the MQM is not digesting this, Sharjeel regretted.
