KARACHI: Water supply has been severely affected in various blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New Karachi, Saddar and Clifton. The city has so far faced a water shortage of 215 million gallons due to power breakdowns.

Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation has informed the K-Electric administration about the growing water crisis in the city, said KWSC Spokesman in his statement.

K-Electric continues to carry out breakdowns at water pumping stations. Major power breakdown once again at K-3 pumping station, which supplies water to various areas of the city. Power to K3 station went out at 12:00 am last night. The cable fault still not resolved despite passing 13 hours.

It should be noted that there was a major breakdown at the K-3 pumping station on November 18 as well. K-Electric restored supply to K-3 pumping station on November 20 after 41 hours. After operating for a few hours, the power of the K-3 pumping station was cut off again due to a cable fault, he said.

It should be noted that on November 17, the K-Electric administration also shutdown the power to correct a cable fault. Despite continuous measures by K-Electric, breakdowns are still ongoing. North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Scheme 33 are facing severe water shortage in due to power outage.
