Imran Khan: PTI moves SC against denial of meetings, solitary confinement
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court against the unlawful denial of meetings and continued solitary confinement of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling it a grave violation of justice, fundamental rights, and judicial authority.
PTI Secretary General Raja Salman Akram Raja, Advocate, has filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court against the illegal obstruction of former Prime Minister and “Prisoner of Democracy” Imran Khan’s Tuesday and Thursday scheduled meetings, who has been held in solitary confinement in a so-called “death cell” for 833 days under deplorable conditions, the result of fabricated, concocted, and politically motivated cases.
The petition said it is deeply regrettable that the Islamabad High Court, despite repeatedly violating its own orders, has failed to act on several contempt of court petitions pending for the past eight months. This legal deadlock not only undermines the basic principles of justice but also severely infringes upon fundamental rights and the authority of the judiciary as enshrined in the Constitution.
PTI categorically rejected this unconstitutional conduct and underscores that any infringement on Imran Khan’s personal liberty, his right to meet visitors, or any of his fundamental human rights is utterly reprehensible and intolerable.
The party calls on the higher judiciary to act without delay and with full authority, reiterating its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of Imran Khan and all political detainees.
